Totally Tubular Thursday

Hello Families!

We have had a GREAT day!

Our final snorkel allowed the students to float jump, play beach games, and go eeling. It was a truly memorable experience for all! Many students got to travel to Garibaldi Rock and saw many different species of fish.

For lunch, the students had corn dogs, fries, and veggies!

Many students got to enjoy the climbing wall and have a good time dancing and climbing! The other half of the students got to experience labs, such as shark, algae and a personal favorite: whale lab. The students got to enter into a blow up whale that is an actual size and see what the inside of the whale looks like.

Tonight, we will have a great bonfire and talent show to end the week!

Wonderful Wednesday (Evening)

Good Afternoon Families!

We had an eventful Wednesday! So eventful, it was hard to find time to update the blog!

All the students started the day off, with a nice snorkel, with slightly more choppy water. We saw horn sharks, halibut, and many kelp bass. The students also got to jump off the float deck! Belly flops and cannon ball contests were had by all!

In the afternoon, the students got to either interesting labs, such as the shark touch tank, or they enjoyed a beautiful hike. The hike has a specific moment that allows the students to experience life in nature without a large group, it is a highlight of our trip! Ask students about the solo hike.

During the night, we went on an epic night snorkel where we got to see bioluminesence, an octopus, and a horned shark!

More updates to come later about our adventures today. For now, we are off to the Rock climbing wall!!

Terrific Tuesday (Evening)

Hello Wonderlful Families!

We have had an exciting evening! The students had a wonderful lunch of hot dogs and fries...a clear favorite!

After lunch, the students went on a kayak, or to different labs! Fun was had by all! For dinner, the students enjoyed chicken, rice, and fried veggies.

The evening was split into two different activities: Creatures of the Night and the Night Snorkel/hike.

During creatures of the night, the students got to explore what happens to fish when they are in the deepest parts of the ocean. Long division has officially been enjoyed by all. (Ask your student when then get home).

The night snorkel was adventurous and the students saw a wide variety of biodiversity, including the much sought after bioluminesence! Afterwards, our brave participants enjoyed a cup of hot cocoa.

We are all safe in bed, warm and looking forward to a great sleep. 😴

Until tomorrow!

Terrific Tuesday (Midday)

Good Afternoon Families!

We are having a BLAST!

As the sunrose, students wrote in their journals and composed letters to their families. It is truly kid paradise.

For breakfast, the kids enjoyed pancakes, fruit, oatmeal, and sausage! The students are enjoying the food here more and more each meal.

Our whole school enjoyed a beautiful snorkel. What did we see? Leapord sharks, Garibaldi, top smelt, half moon, bat rays, shovel nose guitar fish were all seen on our snorkel! The kids were great in the water and pulled through all of the effort it takes on the hike.

Well, we are off to play gaga ball and earn some camp glory!

Updates to come later today! Kids are all safe, happy, and having a blast!

Marvelous Monday

Good Evening Families!

We apologize about the late update, but our internet is a little weaker than we have had in the past.

Our morning started off with an adventurous boat ride that will be memorable for students long after this year. 🤢

Once we arrived at camp, we moved into our dorms and got ready for our first activities! Groups 1-4 did some interesting labs that allowed them to investigate invertebrates, algae, plankton, and the effect plastic has on our oceans. Groups 5-8 went on an exciting kayak on the calm, sunny seas!

Spaghetti and garlic bread was enjoyed by all for dinner, as well as a celebration for Ms. Key! 🎊

Our night program allowed the students to investigate marine mammals and explore the wonders of long division. (This is a tradition that your students can tell you about at home!)

That is all for this evening! The students are asleep, safe and warm, in bed! Tomorrow morning the students are all going on our first snorkel!
